Whatever course I decide to take in the future, I'm confident what I learn here, combined with BCG's excellent brand, will help me along the way.
Nigel
Consultant, Sydney
A Personal Story
During the first stage of my career, I commercialised flat panel display technology in a startup, then helped early stage businesses with strategy and fund raising for a few years, so I had a very entrepreneurial focus. When I joined BCG after business school I had a clear goal in mind: I wanted to work with larger organisations, as there was a whole side of business – having customers and revenue! – that I had little experience of first hand. BCG has allowed me to do this, while giving me the opportunity to branch out into new industries at the same time. Since starting I've worked alongside the management in two large businesses in mining and telecos. Whatever course I decide to take in the future, I'm confident what I learn here, combined with BCG's excellent brand, will help me along the way.

Training at BCG is a continuous process that challenges your mind and has helped me re-chart my career.

A Personal Story
After playing international sport for 14 years, I needed a new challenge that would stimulate my mind as much as field hockey had stimulated my body. BCG's track record of strategic insight and breakthrough thinking, coupled with its strong emphasis on training and teamwork was the perfect fit. Training at BCG is a continuous process; mine started with regional entry
training in Bangkok and has since included a wide range of targeted sessions. Outside of traditional training, I have also received plenty of help and advice from others that has helped my transition from banking to consulting. BCG's training enables me to make a difference with clients and has also exponentially increased my career options
Background
Simon holds a BA/BCom in Economics and Finance from the University of Auckland. Simon represented New Zealand in field hockey from 1992 to 2005 (captain from 2000). After retiring as the country’s most capped player he was awarded a Member of the New Zealand order of Merit for services to hockey. He joined BCG’s Auckland office in 2007
Sophie
After sampling the case work and meeting the people, I was convinced that BCG would be a great place for me to work full time!
Sophie
Consultant, Melbourne
A Personal Story

During my 12-week internship at BCG I completed two cases. The first one entailed helping an industrial products client overcome issues with their existing marketing strategy. Our task was to determine how to grow sales, which were stagnant or declining in some areas within Australia. My second case was a very broadly defined strategy project in the financial services industry. Our job was to inform the client about current and future market trends.

The best thing about completing an internship is that it enables you to “try before you buy”. BCG is an extremely welcoming company and by the end of 12 weeks I really felt at home. After sampling the case work and meeting the people, I was convinced that BCG would be a great place for me to work full time!

Background
Sophie holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Queensland and an MBA from Melbourne Business School. She has worked primarily in operations in food, pharmaceutical and industrial products. Sophie completed an internship at BCG in June 2008 and re-joined the Melbourne office in June 2009.
